STEEL MAGNOLIAS (1989) is a beloved play about the strong bond between a group of women in a small Louisiana town, centered around a beauty salon, who support each other through life's joys and tragedies, including the illness of newlywed Shelby,  directed by Daniel Doctor.  It features an all star cast including Gail Ingalsbe Graesser as Truvy, Betsy Ross Ross as Clairee, Donna Manquen as M'Lynn, Holly Lederhouse as Shelby, Meada Taylor as Ouiser, and Megg Wakefield as  Annelle. 

Based on a Robert Harling's play of the same name.  The story explores themes of friendship, family, love, and loss, with iconic, witty dialogue.   


GAIL GRAESSER

With extensive stage experience throughout Western NY, Gail is well versed in her craft.  Notable credits include her performance in The Odd Couple as Gwendolyn Pigeon , Godspell as Gilmer, Nunsense and Nuncrackers as Sister Rober Ann and Regina. Her previous roles also include Mary Madalene in Jesus Crist Superstar with Stage Struck procductons and Abby Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace with WSA Theatrics.  

HOLLY LEDERHOUSE

A distinguished. alumna of  Medina High School and Canisius College, Holly discovered her passion for the stage through productions like West Side Story and Little Shop of Horrors.  As a student of West Side Academy since its inception, Holly has showcased her talents in multiple performances.  She has also expanded her expertise into film, training with BGB Studio out of Los Angeles, yet finds her true comfort on the stage.  Holly embraces diverse opportunities to grow as a performer taking on roles such as the girl next door in Arsenic and Old Lace and the quirky country singer Sister Amnesia in Nunsense.  

DONNA MANQUEN

Donna's remarkable theater journey, initiated in 2006 with a small chorus role in Dracula, has led to numerous achievements. Her role as Mrs. Allen in Dark of Moon (2008) marked a pivotal moment in her career. Her portrayal of Grace in Snow Star at WCBS earned her a prestigious TANY's Award for Excellence in Acting. Snow Stars' award-winning production at the TANY's Festival in 2006 paved the way for her appearance at the Eastern States Theater Festival in Maryland in 2009. Other notable productions include Steel Magnolias (Annelle), Over the Tavern, Uh, Oh, Here Comes Christmas, The Heiress with the Playhouse of American Classics, The Odd Couple, and Jekyll and Hyde. With a second TANY''s Award for Excellence in Acting, Donna continues to impress audiences with performances in The Curious Savage and Killing (Sarah). Recently, she was part of the Inclusive Theater of West New York's production of A Night of Short Plays. Donna is honored to be part of the Steel Magnolias cast with WSA Theatrics, opening from May 21-31 in her hometown community.

BETSY ROSS

Proprietor of Betsy Ross Costumes and Aunt B's Attic in Lockport, NY is set to play the role of Clairee in the upcoming WSA Theatrics Production of Steel Magnolias scheduled to open May 21 -31.

With a theatrical resume spanning over two decades in Western NY, Betsy has played various characters and designed costumes for more than twenty five productions.  Her notable credits include : Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman, Queen Aggravain in One Upon a Mattress, Truvy in Steel Magnolias with ACTS, Ann Putnam in The Crucible and Martha Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace with Niagara Regional Theater Guild and Lady Agatha Mortimer in the Mystery Company's production of Hound and the Baskerville.

MEADA TAYLOR

I would appreciate your help in giving a warm welcome to Meada Taylor  , who will be performing the role of 'Ouiser' in Steel Magnolias on stage from May 21-31 after playing the role of Hannigan in Annie.  Meada, hailing from Lockport, New York, is known for her work as a substitute teacher in local school districts including Lockport, Barker, and Wilson. She is also the artistic director and founder of Kummba Nia Productions, where she creates engaging puppet shows for various audiences. Her puppetry skills are showcased not only locally but also internationally, having performed in Kenya, Africa. Meada is a talented individual - a writer, performer, facilitator, and puppet builder - who brings imagination to life through her productions, enjoyed by audiences of all ages. 

MEGG WAKEFIELD

Megg Wakefield portrays "Annelle" in Steel Magnolias with finesse,  opening May 21-31.  Recent highlights include her performances in The Rhythm of Hope Cabaret, Godspell, and Nunsense. With extensive experience in music and drama from her time at Medina schools and as an undergrad radio host at the University of Rochester, Megg brings depth to her roles. When she's not on stage, Megg can be found writing, performing with her daughters, or nurturing her passion for music and community at the Medina Community Garden.
